Considering the genre of our 2-minute opening sequence is horror, we will need to have a specific target audience for our film.  However we will need to choose an audience that already enjoys the horror genre. Due to it being a horror film we will need to select an audience that would enjoy the horror genre. It would appear that genre would be targeted at a certain age group due to the certificates it is given. Most horrors are either 15 or 18 rated. this could be down to the gore, language or themes involved in the film. Ours will be similar and targeted towards teenager/ young adults roughly between the ages of 16 to late 20’s as these are the primary age that view horror films on a regular basis and seem to enjoy them most. It appears that the younger generation favour these type of films compared to someone in their 40's would tend to enjoy movies from their generation. Also it would be targeted towards males, as they are more predominantly associated with horror films so this would be our primary focus as far as our audience goes. Males tend to prefer the gore and fear that horror films can bring mainly down to their ego. However this doesn’t exclude any other people who may want to view our film this is just to base our target audience.
